The Problem Highlighted
There is a growing buzz in the Canadian Trucking industry. Everywhere you look there seems to be a news report, article or discussion about safety in the trucking industry. A quick search of “Ontario Truck Driver Safety” results in a page full of articles from the CBC, CTV, IHSA, OTA, Truck News, TBS News, City TV, and the list goes on.

Clearly this is a call to action by people from within the industry. It’s a known issue by everyone. The government, carrier, insurance industry and lastly the training industry.

In Ontario, commercial motor vehicles and their drivers must meet strict safety standards and follow all commercial vehicle-related regulations in the Highway Traffic Act . Police and transportation enforcement officers regularly inspect vehicles, and the penalties for unsafe vehicles or drivers are severe.
