HAMILTON, ON – May 6, 2021 – You’re invited to attend the TTSAO Carrier Group’s virtual meeting on
Thursday, May 13, from 11 a.m. – noon (EST), where industry leaders will talk about the importance of
proper recruitment and retention, attracting and retaining quality drivers into their fleets, and being a TTSAO
Carrier Group member.
“As a new member, this is a good opportunity to get to know other reputable carriers and further develop
relationships with them,” says Michael Zelek, Director of Human Resources with Wellington Motor Freight – a
new member of the TTSAO Carrier Group.
Caroline Blias, Recruiting Manager, Kriska Transportation Group – one of the TTSAO’s veteran members –
explains that proper recruitment and retention plays a significant role in the on-boarding of entry-level drivers
within their company. “The best way [for attracting and retaining quality drivers] is to develop a relationship with
good quality training schools. We’re able to do that as members of the TTSAO.”
The line-up of guest speakers includes Glenn Caldwell, Vice President of Corporate Development at Healthy
Trucker/NAL Insurance Inc.; Liz Williamson, TAT Training Specialist and Survivor-Leader with Truckers Against
Trafficking; and Lisa Arseneau, Chair of the TTSAO Insurance Group.
Glenn Caldwell will show carriers how to recruit and retain professional drivers by using tools and incentives to
attract the perfect candidate and establish a healthy workplace; Liz Williamson will talk about TAT’s presence
in Canada and how drivers can play an active role in potentially saving an individual from human trafficking;
and Lisa Arseneau will provide an overview of the TTSAO Insurance Group’s role in qualifying and requalifying
schools under the TTSAO standard and what criteria must be continuously met to maintain that standard.
Gerald Carroll, Chair of the TTSAO Carrier Group, is looking forward to virtually connecting with the attendees
and speakers and celebrating the many benefits that come with being a member of the TTSAO. “Being a
Carrier member comes with many networking opportunities. As a Carrier member, we see approximately 5,000
drivers graduate from TTSAO schools each year – so we can go to a school, talk to candidates, and find ‘the
perfect fit’ for our companies before they graduate,” says Carroll. “That’s just one of the benefits of being a part
of the TTSAO. We’re all in this together and want only what’s best for the industry.”
