Are You Employing the Instructor of the Year?

I know with the pandemic you possibly forgot that you employ some great people, after all they have possibly been working from home for the last two years. Hopefully you remember their names? When we are around our teams all the time and things are operating in full gear it is easy to see the great things they are doing. The same thing can be said for all those clients that send in great messages about your team on a regular basis. With the pandemic happening it is possible that you forgot to nominate that amazing instructor for the Instructor of the Year Award. Don’t worry there is still time, you have until February 14th. However it is important to choose the right person after all the past competition has been pretty stiff.

In 2019 the first Instructor of the Year was Joe Teixeira from Rosedale Transport, he is a top notch veteran instructor with decades of experience and a solid professional background. He is admired by his coworkers, peers, and industry colleagues. Joe set the bar very high when he won in year one.

In 2020 we squeezed in our second Instructor of the Year just before the pandemic started with Doug Degrow of Kim Richardson Transportation Specialists Inc. (KRTS) as the winner for 2020. Doug has been a veteran driver, owner operator, and instructor with great knowledge in a variety of industries from trucking to heavy equipment. Doug is a great recipient for the second award and keeps the bar very high for the next contender.

Who will be the next instructor? Will it be a veteran from your team or someone newer but changing the World for your students? The best place to start is with the criteria which you can find at www.ttsao.com on the conference page, but I will get you started here:

  • 10 years verifiable experience
  • Clean abstract
  • Employed by a TTSAO School or TTSAO Carrier Partner
  • Must be a full time employee

There are additional criteria that can help the nomination such as volunteerism in their community, letters of endorsement, and so which you can read the full criteria on the website.

Nominate your instructor and hopefully they will be added to the list of top instructors that have already won the award. Many instructors didn’t even know they were doing anything but their jobs, but they are making a huge difference in the industry. We have a lot of competition from other industries for staff and our image to the public is weary. Promoting the Instructor of the Year Award is not only a great way to show people that we have good experienced people in our industry that care, but that what they see on the news is not a reality of the industry.

You can get started with your nomination for Instructor of the Year through the link below and we hope to see you at the conference on February 23-24th, 2022. You can learn more about the conference and the award criteria at www.ttsao.com
